Personal Injury and Wrongful Death

This includes cases in which injuries or death have occurred due to automobile crashes, premises liability (slips and falls), construction and demolition accidents, defective products, and hazardous maintenance or design of buildings and highways.
They have handled hundreds of cases involving the wrongful death of family members or serious personal injuries, including claims for errors in medical treatment, and injuries caused by auto collisions or defective products.
Medical Malpractice
The attorneys at Otway Russo, LLP handle claims which relate to injuries caused by medical errors, including claims related to surgical negligence; mistakes in the dosage of medicines or in the administration of anesthesia; failure to timely diagnose cancer; early and inappropriate discharge from the emergency room; nursing home neglect; and birth injuries. We identify and use leading medical experts in the field in support of our cases.

Chiropractic Malpractice
Our attorneys handle chiropractic negligence claims. A chiropractor, like other health care professionals, is held to certain standards of practice. When those standards are violated and those violations result in damage to patients and their families, an action for malpractice can be brought against the chiropractor. Two areas where chiropractic malpractice can occur are: (1) when a chiropractor fails to diagnose a condition requiring immediate medical attention; and (2) when damage results from chiropractic manipulation. Complications of chiropractic manipulation can result in cognitive or emotional dysfunction, paralysis or death, vertebral and rib fractures, vertebrobasilar stroke, disc herniation, and damage to the spinal cord.
Business Disputes
At Otway Russo, LLP a portion of our practice is devoted to the resolution of business disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation. We view our role as problem solvers for our business clients. Working closely with our clients, we strive to identify the most successful outcome and to achieve it with the smallest investment of our client's time, personnel and dollars.
We continue to provide counsel, guidance and representation in areas such as dissolution of partnerships or other entities, breach of contract, wrongful interference with contract, non-competition agreements, specific enforcement of contracts and commercial agreements.
In addition, we provide counsel and representation regarding construction disputes arising out of commercial and residential construction on projects as small as $10,000 to ones over $25 million.
Appeals
Leslie Hayes Russo handles appeals from verdicts in civil cases in both the state and federal courts on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. She has co-authored with other attorneys a chapter in the leading treatise on the fine points of appellate advocacy in Maryland, APPELLATE ADVOCACY FOR THE MARYLAND LAWYER: STATE AND FEDERAL (1st and 2nd Editions). She has also lectured on these subjects in statewide seminars, teaching other lawyers how to handle appeals.
She recently handled an appeal to the Court of Special Appeals in which the Court affirmed one of the highest product liability verdicts ever awarded in Maryland in favor of a single plaintiff who had sued an automobile manufacturer for failing to warn of a dangerous hazard which resulted in the traumatic amputation of both legs.
